Being a Teenager is a Challenge.
Everything is Changing.

Do you feel like life can be more than you know how to handle? Does it feel uncomfortable to talk about your thoughts and feelings with friends or family? It can be awkward confronting changing social and emotional landscapes during the time between being a kid and an adult. We remember it well. So let’s talk about it! We will be honest and supportive while you explore yourself.
You can talk about it in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
In counseling, your feelings and thoughts are private between you and your therapist. We work hard to make sure that you have the opportunity to share whatever you need and help you discover and connect to the life you really want to have! There is no judgement, no punishments, no expectations. Just a space for you!
Counseling for Teens
Teenagers face pressure unlike anything seen by other generations. With a rise in school violence and bullying, social media concerns, and the use of technology in the classroom, teens have had to demonstrate a great resilience towards change. Their body, brain, mood, and responsibilities are changing too, which can add to the stress.

At Insight Counseling Center, we specialize in treating teenagers who feel hopeless, misunderstood, or overwhelmed. We offer up to date and evidence based therapies, with each of our counselors holding additional certifications and specializations specific to family and teen therapy.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Theraoy (CBT)
How Can Counseling Help?
Counseling is an opportunity to explore and challenge some of the changes you or your teen is experiencing in a confidential and safe space. Counseling can be a support for teens who are feeling lost, overwhelmed, or grappling with difficult new emotions. Our counselors can guide teens or their families in finding effective and realistic solutions to issues that are causing stress in home, school, or their social life. These solutions can foster a sense of self-reliance and boost self-confidence in both teens and their families.
Below are a few areas that we’ve been able to help teens with:
Finding out who you are (identity) & improving self-image:
This is the time for self exploration and finding out what you value, where you want to spend your energy, and why you like what you like. In counseling, you might examine why you want to experiment with certain ideas or activities and weigh the pros and cons. This can help you build a positive and healthy self-image.
- Building better bonds with friends:

Your friends will become very important during this phase of your life. So choosing a good group of friends is critical. If you are in a friend group that offers you belonging but has a tendency to bully or disrespect you, pressure you to adhere to beliefs and behaviors that you don’t identify with – that can cause conflicting emotions and lead to anger, depression, or issues with self-worth. This can be addressed in counseling with techniques to improve your self-esteem, finding other social groups, and resolving anger.
Improving mood and managing thoughts & behaviors:
It’s completely normal to feel out of sorts as a teenager. Your brain, body, and hormones are changing rapidly and this can leave you feeling emotions on a deeper level. Counseling can help you sort through those emotions and identify helpful or unhelpful thoughts that lead to healthy behaviors.
